No Mouse? REALLY????

Today I was reading articles on cnet.com and i came across one about the death of the mouse.
Well i thought to myself this can not be possible. The mouse has been a staple for so long for computer users that it can not just go away...
Well i guess I was wrong...
I quickly googled "touch-pad" thinking ok maybe someone took the laptop touch pad and moved it to the desktop... Well a whole bunch of companies have. Not just eliminating the mouse but using laptop tech to combine it with the keyboard. Gamers however have no fear... Until IR triangulation is perfected you will still need a mouse for proper 3d movement (especially FPS gamers). However once Microsoft finishes "Project Natal" and knowing Microsoft will introduce a patch allowing the technology to work with the PC, we could be looking at a whole new gaming generation where all you will need is a touch pad, a keyboard, and a NATAL sensor and you can frag your heart out! The mouse being one of the longest standing PC devices beside the keyboard and monitor(Which is also entering the endangered list) will disappear. Geeks and Nerds always look for the next big thing. Well with NATAL and a touch-pad/keyboard combo the end of the mouse may be at hand. Also with the monitor slowly merging with the HDTV it is only a matter of time until the monitor and the TV become inseparable and considering that most new flat-screen TVs are noting more than fancy LCD screens with built in speakers, it is only a matter of time.
Computing is becoming more and more inseparable with every day life, and i wouldn't have it any other way.
